CSO seeks collaboration with FG to combat insecurity

ABUJA — THE Director General of the Civil Society Organisations on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative, Hon. Kunle Yusuff, has urged the Federal Government to leverage the grassroots networks and expertise of Civil Society Organisations, CSOs and Community-Based Organisations, in tackling insecurity across Nigeria.

In a statement on Monday, Yusuff, who spoke on behalf of accredited CSOs and CBOs in Nigeria, said the groups are ready to partner with the government to address the country’s insecurity challenges.

The CSOs and CBOs also extended heartfelt condolences to victims of insecurity across the country, praying for the souls of those who lost their lives and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

According to the statement: “As key stakeholders in national development, CSOs and CBOs play a vital role in promoting peace, stability, and security. We possess grassroots networks, community trust, and expertise that can support government efforts to address insecurity.”

They urged the Federal Government to leverage their collective strengths in providing credible information and early warning systems, supporting intelligence gathering and analysis, facilitating community engagement and dialogue, as well as promoting peacebuilding and conflict resolution initiatives.

They emphasised that national leaders of CSOs and CBOs are committed to working together with the government to build a safer, more secure, and prosperous Nigeria.

Yusuff reiterated that the organisations remain ready to collaborate with the Federal Government in confronting insecurity and ensuring lasting peace across the country.
