ECOWAS Begins Recruitment, Lists Vacancies For Nigerians, Others [See How To Apply]

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified citizens from member states, including Nigeria, to apply for over 30 vacancies across its institutions.

The regional bloc disclosed this in a notice published on its official website on Thursday, stating that the exercise is aimed at strengthening the implementation of its sectoral programmes.

It urged interested applicants to submit their applications through its careers portal.

Roles Available In Abuja, Nigeria

According to the notice, several positions are available in Nigeria, particularly in Abuja.

These include Office Aide, Programme Assistant, Nurse, Protocol Assistant, Documentation and Archives Assistant, Office Manager (Bilingual Secretary), Junior Accountant (Disbursements), Accountant roles, Legal Officers, Political Adviser, Principal Officer positions, Registrar roles, Head of Division (Library and Documentation), and Head of Hansard.

Vacancies Across Africa

The organisation also listed positions outside Nigeria, reflecting its regional spread.

These include Administrative and Finance Officer roles in Addis Ababa, PPO (Sports Policy) in Liberia, and Principal Programme Officer (Water Supply and Sanitation) in Conakry.

Other legal and administrative roles are available in Dakar, among other locations.

ECOWAS stated that applicants must meet specific age requirements depending on the category of the role.

“35 years of age for General Services or Support positions (G1 to G7), 45 years of age for Professional category (P1 to P7), and 50 years of age for Director positions (D1-D2),

” the notice read.

ECOWAS Application Process And Deadline

The organisation explained that applicants are required to download and complete an official application form, attach a curriculum vitae and a motivation letter, and submit them via designated email addresses before the deadline.

“All applications must include the application form, CV and a cover letter. Applications that do not contain all mandatory documents will not be considered,” it stated.

Applications for the 2026 recruitment exercise will close on April 30, 2026.

ECOWAS also warned prospective applicants to be wary of fraudulent schemes, stressing that it does not charge any fees for its recruitment process.

It further encouraged female candidates to apply, noting that only shortlisted applicants would be contacted.

The exercise underscores the organisation’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity and promoting inclusive participation across its member states.
