EFCC warns content creators against unauthorised use of name, logo

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has cautioned content creators against using its identity in skits and online productions without approval.
In a statement released via its official X platform on Saturday, the commission said it had observed a growing trend of individuals incorporating its name, logo and likeness into content that distorts its operations and procedures.
“It has come to our attention that some individuals are using the EFCC’s identity in media content. Many of these portrayals misrepresent our values and standard operating procedures,” the agency said.
The commission stressed that it does not authorise or endorse any entertainment content using its brand without written consent, urging immediate compliance.
“Members of the public are advised to desist from using our name, logo, uniforms or any identifying features without prior approval. Those who fail to comply will be prosecuted,” it warned.
The development comes amid rising concerns over impersonation, with the agency noting that fraudsters have been posing as its operatives to carry out fake enforcement activities, particularly in public spaces.
The EFCC reaffirmed its commitment to protecting its image and urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
