The Federal Government has officially handed over Letters of Credence to three ambassadors-designate, clearing them to represent Nigeria in their new postings abroad.

.....

Naija News reports that Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, carried out the presentation on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The ceremony confirmed the appointment of Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Ayodele Oke to France, and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.

During the event, the minister explained that the documents serve as formal approval from the Nigerian government, allowing the envoys to act in an official capacity in their host countries.

She noted that such letters are issued by a country’s leader to introduce newly appointed ambassadors and grant them the authority to speak and act on behalf of their nation.

She also congratulated the three envoys and wished them success as they prepare to take up their duties.

The development comes after President Tinubu approved the appointment of 65 ambassadors and high commissioners.

His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had earlier disclosed that the list included both career and non-career diplomats. The nominees were confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.

Following their confirmation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has begun orientation programmes for the envoys.

They are expected to resume work in their respective countries once they receive final approval from the governments they will be serving in.
