By Femi Bolaji
Jalingo — The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy has partnered with the Taraba State Government to develop a tourism village in the state.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on behalf of the Federal Government by the Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, shortly after the Nwonyo International Fishing Festival, which attracted guests from across Nigeria and abroad.
Speaking after the signing, Musawa said the Federal Government is exploring the tourism sector as a key avenue for unlocking economic opportunities.
She noted that the initiative aligns with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that Taraba is strategically positioned as a hub for cultural heritage and tourism investment.
The minister also praised the state’s rich cultural diversity, particularly the colourful Nwonyo festival.
Governor Agbu Kefas, in his remarks, commended the Federal Government for the partnership, describing it as timely and strategic.
He stressed that security remains a top priority for his administration, noting that a safe and enabling environment is essential for tourism to thrive and for the success of the proposed village.
