Gov. Yusuf confirms Bilkisu Maimota as Kano Head of Civil Service

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has confirmed Bilkisu Shehu Maimota as the substantive Head of Civil Service, a move widely seen as part of efforts to strengthen ongoing reforms within the state’s public service.

Details of the appointment were contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, shortly after a high-profile event marking the unveiling of the sixth tranche of payments to settle outstanding gratuities and death benefits owed to pensioners and families of deceased civil servants.

Observers note that the timing of the confirmation aligns with the government’s intensified push to clear inherited liabilities and restore confidence in the system.

The administration has in recent months prioritized the settlement of long-standing entitlements, a move aimed at boosting morale within the workforce.

Mrs Maimota had only recently been appointed in an acting capacity, following the removal of former Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa.
