Group endorses Ebonyi Works commissioner for Reps

A socio-political youth body in Igbo land, the Coalition of South-East Youth Leaders, has endorsed Lebechi Mbam of the All Progressives Congress to represent the Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency in the National Assembly elections.
The group said his extensive experience, competence, integrity, and youthfulness stand him out and urged stakeholders to support his emergence.
President-General of the coalition, Chief Goodluck Ibem, said this in a statement on Tuesday, adding that his exposure and generosity have endeared him to the people.
The group said, “The Coalition of South-East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), the apex socio-political youth organisation in the South-East geopolitical zone, after a far-reaching appraisal of all the aspirants presented by various political parties for the Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency in the 2027 National Assembly elections, Engr. Lebechi Mbam is our preferred aspirant, and we urge Governor Francis Nwifuru and other stakeholders in the Constituency to support him in securing victory in the position.
“He possesses the requisite experience, exposure, uncommon track record, and integrity required globally and falls within the leadership spectrum of Not-too-young-to-run to galvanise the contacts and partnerships to take the Constituency to a greater height.
“As former SA on Works and current Commissioner for Works, Mbam has done so much to give the state its present global infrastructural lift.
“His penchant for health succor to indigent natives shows that if given the opportunity, he would muster the energy and zest to champion direct impact on human legislation. He is young and in tune with modern realities.”
The group added, “It has become imperative as a group that wants the best for our people in all the states of the South-East region, to support credible aspirants in the region. For the forthcoming National Assembly elections in Ebonyi State, Engr. Lebechi Mbam of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is the suitable person to represent the Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency at this time. He will raise the voice of the Abakaliki and Izzi people in the Green Chamber and drive development at the grassroots.”
The PidomNigeria reports that the incumbent lawmaker for the Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency is Hon. Emmanuel Uguru, a former commissioner for lands and surveys in the state.
Recently, his constituents have called for his removal over alleged underperformance, underrepresentation, and inaccessibility.
One of his constituents, Comrade Obinna Udenwe, an author and teacher, wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday, “Imagine having a Representative who has not called a single meaningful town hall meeting involving youths, women, and stakeholders.
“Imagine a Representative who insults stakeholders in the way and manner he treats them, gives them N20,000 as a Christmas gift, a cow for the entire local government comprising party officials, stakeholders, and groups, and boasts of his wickedness himself.”
