Horror as girl, 6, raped after being abducted from outside hospital

A young girl was allegedly raped after being abducted from outside of a hospital. A man, 30, has been arrested in connection with the incident while police continue to investigate.

The victim, 6, was visiting her auntie at a private hospital in the state of Uttar Pradesh, in Northern India, last Thursday night (April 9). However, she was allegedly abducted at around 9.30pm before being taken to a deserted house. The six-year-old was then reportedly raped before managing to escape.

As reported by News Today, she fled the home covered in blood before going back to her family house. She then reported what happened to her parents before they took her to hospital.

Local police officers launched an urgent investigation and a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of abduction and rape. The suspect, identified as Chandrakesh alias Gati, was taken to Bilsi Police Station for questioning on Friday night and remains in custody.

The victim received medical treatment after being taken to hospital by her family. She is continuing to undergo medical examination after reportedly being “blood stained” following the attack.

Police said on Saturday that the case has been registered under Section 65 (rape perpretated against minors) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita – the new criminal law code of India. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Hridesh Katheria added that the alleged crime has been referred to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the reported abduction and rape. Meanwhile, the victim remains at a government medical facility for treatment.

Bilsi is a large town located in the Budaun district of Uttar Pradesh. It has a population of around 27,000 people, according to the latest cenus.
