House of Assembly Speaker dies while receiving treatment in Egypt

The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Usman Zuru, has died in Egypt while receiving medical treatment.
The media aide of the Speaker, Murtala Diri, confirmed his death in a statement he issued to newsmen on Monday.
According to Diri, the representative of Zuru Constituency in the Kebbi State House of Assembly and Speaker of the 10th Assembly died in Cairo, Egypt.
The late Speaker, according to the statement, was a prominent political figure from the Zuru Emirate.
His death is considered a major loss to his constituents, the state legislature, the political class, and Kebbi State as a whole.
The statement said until his death, Zuru was regarded as one of the leading voices in the state’s legislative arm, where he played a key role in lawmaking and governance.
As at press time, details of his burial were yet to be made public.
