How Chuba Okadigbo predicted Tinubu’s presidency in 1992 -  Pa Olusi

Chairman of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Tajudeen Olusi, has recalled how former Senate President Chuba Okadigbo predicted that Bola Tinubu would one day become Nigeria’s president.

Olusi made the remark on Wednesday while speaking in Yoruba at the commissioning of the Opebi-Ojota Link Bridge and e-GIS complex in Lagos.

According to the elder statesman, the prediction dates back to 1992 during the Third Republic when Tinubu, then a senator representing Lagos West, stepped down in the contest for Senate President in favour of Okadigbo.

“We are happy that God is with the President, and I want to say that God appointed him (to lead Nigeria), I repeat, God appointed him.” Olusi said.

He added, “Let me remind us, some might have forgotten. The president started his political journey from this very place, Ikeja. That time, some of us wanted him to start from Lagos Island but God wanted him to start from Ikeja”

Olusi recounted that Tinubu later represented Lagos in the Senate and demonstrated humility during the leadership contest.

“When it was time for President of the Senate to emerge, he showed the Omoluabi in him, he behaved well, he stepped down for Okadigbo,” he said.

He noted that it was at that moment Okadigbo made the now-famous remark about Tinubu’s future.

“God spoke through Okadigbo that day and he said this Bola you see, he would become Nigeria President one day. It is on record, so, you should all accept that his presidency is God’s work,” Olusi added.

The GAC chairman also praised Tinubu’s contributions to national development, particularly in Lagos, and described his rise to the presidency as divinely ordained.

“We are happy with him and we want to thank God for his blessings,” he said.

Olusi further highlighted Lagos State’s role in Nigeria’s growth, stating that the state has made significant contributions to the country’s development over the years.
