IDPbcommits su!cide in Benue

An internally displaced person (IDP) identified as Mr. Terzungwe Orbam, has committed su!cide in Jato Aka, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.

The deceased was said to be an IDP from Ikyoawen in Turan, a community affected by recurring security challenges in the area.

According to eyewitnesses, Orbam allegedly purchased a poisonous substance from an agrochemical shop in Jato Aka. 

He consumed the substance in front of the shop, collapsed and d!ed before medical intervention could be provided.

His remains have since been deposited in a mortuary.

The incident has raised concerns over mental health challenges among displaced persons in the state, with many calling for increased support and intervention.
