IGP Disu Summons Lagos Officers In Viral Stop-and-Search Video

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has instructed officers seen in a widely shared stop-and-search video in Lagos to appear at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja for disciplinary review.

Naija News reports that the officers involved in the Satellite Town incident have been asked to report on Wednesday, following public concern over their conduct during the roadside operation.

In the video circulating on social media, the officers stopped a vehicle, asked its occupants to step out, and searched one person away from the car.

The Force’s spokesman, CSP Aliyu Giwa, said the directive shows the police commitment to accountability and professionalism.

He urged all officers to respect citizens’ rights, exercise restraint, and follow proper procedures while performing their duties.

Giwa also assured the public that the outcome of the disciplinary process will guide the next steps and that the Force remains committed to justice, discipline, and maintaining its integrity.

“The Nigeria Police Force values concerns of the public, which continue to reinforce our commitment to accountability and professional standards,” he wrote on social media.

The video, which sparked outrage, was first shared on X by the user @ChuksEricE, drawing attention to the conduct of the officers involved.
