I’m not contesting in 2027 – Ortom

Samuel Ortom, former Benue State governor has dismissed claims that he plans to run for any political office in the 2027 general elections.

The clarification was made on Saturday through a statement issued in Makurdi by Terver Akase, Terver Akase.

According to reports by the speculation had emerged on social media suggesting that Ortom was preparing to contest the Benue North-West Senatorial seat in the next election cycle.

Reacting to the claims, Ortom said, “I have no intention whatsoever to contest any elective office in 2027. I have said this clearly, publicly, and repeatedly.

“I expect that a position stated this plainly would not require translation or creative reinterpretation.”

He reiterated that his focus remained on promoting democratic values, strengthening the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and providing leadership guidance rather than seeking elective office.

Ortom also urged the public to disregard the reports, describing them as “a fabrication.”
