Imo Governor hosts Anyaoku’s 15th Annual Lecture Series

Preparations have advanced as the Imo state Governor, Hope Uzodinma will be hosting the 15th Annual Lecture series of his Excellency, Chief Emeka Anyaoku GCON, this Thursday in the state capital, Owerri.
This was disclosed in statement to newsmen in Owerri on Tuesday by the organizers through Amb. Johnson Ogbonna, with the theme: “Imperative of Good Governance in Nigeria’ to take place at Rock View Hotel Main Hall, Owerri.
Anyaoku who is a distinguished Nigerian, a respected international elder statesman and the first black man to ever be the Secretary-General of Common Wealth of Nations, thus, the famous lecture series is instituted in his honour as a public policy forum that focuses on governance, leadership, and national developments as hallmarks of what Anyaoku stands for.
The well attended event always bring together politicians, academics, diplomats, business moguls and civil society actors to stimulate debate on good governance in Nigeria.
In a press statement signed by Amb. Johnson Ogbonna disclosed that the 15th Lecture series will be held at Rock View Hotel Main Hall, Owerri, Imo State as Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, the Vice Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Anambra State will deliver the key note address, while His Excellency Senator Jim Nwobodo will be the Chairman of the occasion.
It’s pertinent to recall that Chief Emeka Anyaoku lecture series since its inception over 15 years ago, typically revolves around themes such as; Democracy and Constitutional Reforms, Leadership and Accountability, National Unity, Restructuring, Economic and Institutional Developments.
The lecture which is always a cross fertilization of ideas and knowledge is open to all members of the public and students of high institutions.
Dignitaries and Speakers that have graced the lecture in the recent past were; Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Chief John Oyegun, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, His Excellency Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Gov. Donald Duke, Professor Barth Nneji, Professor Anya Anya, Professor Kingsley Moghalu, Professor Eghosa Osaghae, Professor Dora Akunyili, Professor Pat Utomi, Professor Joseph Ajienka, Professor Ayo Olukotun, Professor Hope Eghagha, Dr. Reuben Abati, Senator Ben Bruce, Senator Ben Obi, among other global personalities.
The previous Lectures in the series had been hosted by the State Governors of Lagos, Anambra, Delta, Ogun, Edo, Abia, Ebonyi, Imo, Oyo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom States etc.
