INEC Begins Recruitment Of Ad-hoc Staff For Ekiti Guber Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has started recruiting temporary workers for the Ekiti State governorship election set for Saturday, June 20, 2026.

Naija News reports that the commission made this known on Sunday through its official đ page, stating that interested Nigerians can now apply online for different roles needed for the exercise.
The available positions include Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre managers, and technical support staff known as RATECHs.
According to the commission, the application process began on April 25, 2026, and will end on May 18, 2026. Applicants are expected to submit their forms through the official recruitment portal provided by INEC.
INEC also listed the requirements for each role. Those applying as Supervisory Presiding Officers must be public or civil servants on Grade Level 10 to 14 or staff of the commission within the same grade who are not assigned to other duties.
For the position of Registration Area Centre manager, candidates must be heads of schools or staff members from institutions or public buildings that will serve as centres, and they must be on Grade Level 07 or above.
Applicants for Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers must be serving corps members, students in their second-to-last year in a Nigerian tertiary institution with basic computer knowledge, or workers in government agencies with at least an OND qualification and within Grade Level 07 to 10. INEC staff on Grade Levels 07 and 08, as well as former corps members from 2023 to 2026, are also allowed to apply.

For the RATECH role, applicants must have a background in information technology and must be suitable ICT staff of INEC who are not engaged in other duties.
The commission added that applicants must not belong to any political party or show support for any candidate. It also stated that applicants must live in the state where they choose to work, except for those applying for RATECH positions.
INEC explained that those who have applied before should select the category that matches their current status when applying again.
The recruitment is part of preparations for the Ekiti governorship election, where the current governor, Biodun Oyebanji, is seeking another term in office under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
