Iran announces alternative routes in Hormuz Strait

Published

on

Iran has announced alternative routes for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, citing the risk of sea mines in the main shipping corridor.

.....

The guidance was issued by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which advised ships to use designated alternative entry and exit paths to ensure maritime safety and avoid potential collisions with mines.

The development comes after Tehran agreed to temporarily reopen the strait as part of a two-week ceasefire with the United States, reached shortly before a deadline set by Donald Trump for potential military action.

Iran had effectively restricted access to the waterway since early March, disrupting global shipping and driving up energy prices.
