Iran war LIVE: Kharg Island 'under fresh attack' after Trump's chilling warning

Kharg Island has come under new attack, an Iranian state news agency has claimed. Explosions rocked the area on Tuesday afternoon, according to the semi-official Mehr news agency. The island, described as the “crown jewel” of Iranian oil infrastructure, had suffered severe strikes from the US in mid-March. But that attack did not affect the civilian infrastructure in the region, Iran confirmed. The US and Israel haven’t yet claimed responsibility for the new reported attacks on the area.
US President Donald Trump, who has on several occasions threatened to bomb the island or to seize it, warned the Iranian regime has until 1am BST to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to all vessels. Failing to put an end to fuel shortage fears would result in the bombing of civilian infrastructure including bridges and power plants, he said on the weekend.
