JUST IN: Ex-INEC chairman Attahiru Jega loses wife

Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega, wife of Prof. Attahiru Jega, former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)) is dead.
The family confirmed the development in a statement released on Sunday, 5th of April, 2026.
According to the statement, the Janaiza prayer will hold after Zuhr prayers at 1:30 p.m. at the National Mosque, Abuja.
Jega is a former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a respected figure in academia and public service, widely recognised for his contributions to electoral reforms and livestock development initiatives across Nigeria.
The late Jega was known for her support of educational and community development initiatives, particularly in the northern region of the country.
The family prayed for her soul to rest in Aljannah Fridausi, urging friends and well-wishers to keep them in their prayers during the difficult period.
