Kaduna won’t tolerate conflict profiteers — Uba Sani

Governor Uba Sani has reiterated that his administration will not tolerate the politicisation of insecurity in Kaduna State, warning that individuals or groups seeking to undermine peace will face the full weight of the law.

The governor said the constitution mandates him to protect lives and property, stressing that he will discharge that responsibility “firmly and without compromise.”

Mr Sani issued the warning on Monday during his opening remarks at the State Security Council meeting held at the Council Chambers of Sir Kashim Ibrahim House.

“We are not unaware of those who seek to test our resolve. We are monitoring developments closely, and we are prepared to act. Kaduna State will not return to a past defined by violence, fear and division. That chapter is closed,” he said.

He noted that since his administration assumed office on May 29, 2023, the state has not recorded ethno-religious or farmer-herder conflicts.

According to the governor, his administration’s security strategy is largely preventive.

“We must strengthen grassroots intelligence, deepen collaboration with traditional and religious institutions, and maintain seamless coordination among security agencies. We must stay ahead—consistently and deliberately,” he said.

He described the Kaduna Peace Model as central to the state’s security efforts, noting that it is anchored on inclusivity, intelligence-led operations, inter-agency coordination and community ownership.

“The Kaduna Peace Model has shifted our posture from reactive containment to proactive prevention,” he added.

The governor emphasised the role of intelligence in tackling insecurity, noting that improved information gathering and real-time sharing have helped detect threats early, disrupt criminal networks and prevent escalation.

While acknowledging progress, Uba Sani warned that emerging threats require sustained vigilance, especially as the political climate evolves.

“The threat landscape is becoming more complex and, in some cases, influenced by political opportunism. As we approach a sensitive political period, we must anticipate attempts to exploit divisions and destabilise communities,” he said.

He commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting Kaduna State through enhanced coordination and institutional reforms, and also praised the Minister of Defence, retired General Christopher Musa, for his commitment to duty.

The governor further lauded the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies for their dedication and sacrifice.

He also acknowledged the role of traditional rulers, religious leaders and community stakeholders, noting that their grassroots influence promotes dialogue, builds trust and helps prevent conflict.

“Security is not sustained by force alone; it is built on legitimacy, cooperation and shared values. Your contributions remain central to our success,” he said.
