Bello’s confirmation followed a formal nomination by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, who urged lawmakers to carry out the screening in line with constitutional provisions.

During plenary, the Assembly, sitting as the Committee of the Whole, examined the nominee and subsequently approved his appointment.

Bello, popularly known as “Dollar,” was thereafter confirmed as a member of the state executive council.

Members of the Assembly commended the former APC chairman for his leadership role in strengthening the party, noting his contributions to its electoral successes in Kogi State.

They expressed confidence that he would bring his experience to bear in governance, adding that his appointment would enhance service delivery across the state.

Speaking after his confirmation, Bello assured that his appointment would translate into improved welfare for local government workers.

The new commissioner, who is expected to oversee the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve.

“Anything that will advance the welfare of local government workers is what I will follow and that remains my priority,

On the political outlook ahead of the 2027 elections, Bello declared that there is no formidable opposition to the APC in Kogi State.

“The narrative now is that there is no viable opposition in Kogi State,” he said.

Bello attributed the strength of the APC in Kogi and across the country to the performance of President Bola Tinubu.

“Kogi is taking a cue from President Tinubu. The Chief Servant of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, is working hard to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people by following the footsteps of Mr President,” he said.

The commissioner expressed confidence that the ruling party would dominate future elections in the state.

According to him, the 2027 elections would be “a walkover” for the APC, with all its candidates expected to emerge victorious.
