Makinde Speaks On Alleged Plot To Dethrone Olubadan

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, have rejected claims that there is a plan to remove the monarch from his position.

.....

Naija News reports that that the claims were made by former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, who wrote on social media that he heard there was a move by the Oyo State governor to remove the Olubadan.

He also said that the plan involved issuing a query over the monarch’s absence at a recent traditional event and other issues.

In reaction, the media aide to the Olubadan, Adeola Oloko said the report had no basis and insisted there was no conflict between the governor and the traditional ruler. He added that nothing had happened to suggest any plan to remove the monarch.

“It will be most unfortunate if it is not a rumour. Though I read it just the way you read it online. I don’t see the cause of friction between the governor and Olubadan of Ibadanland,” he said.

The Oyo State Commissioner for Information also reacted, saying the state government had never discussed, considered, or planned anything of that nature.

He said the claim should not be taken seriously and described it as part of false political talk meant to cause confusion.
