Monitoring ensures quality project delivery – Fashanu

The Managing Director of the Edo State Public Building and Maintenance Agency, Arc. Emmanuel Fashanu has reiterated the state government’s stance on contractors engaged by the Agency delivering quality projects.

Arc. Fashanu stated this while addressing Heads of Department of the Agency before a joint tour with the Projects Implementation and Monitoring Department (PIMD), Governor’s office, to Edo North and Edo Central Senatorial Districts.

He charged them to ensure due diligence during the course of their assignment.

The tour took the team to Jattu Market, the Passport Office along Otaru Road and the 2NR warehouses still under construction for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in Auchi.

Other places visited included, the Irrua Market, Ogirrua’s Palace and the Resort Center, Udomi being constructed.
Contractors/Project Supervisors conducted the team round the Sites, with EDPUBMA team navigating the plans as site supervisors spoke to the individual projects.

The joint team of EDPUBMA and PIMD also made stops at Forward Operating Base (FOB), Udomi, 150-Bed capacity Hospital and the medical school at Uwessan in Esan Central Lcal Government Area of the State.

Other places visited included, the Ekpoma Market in Ekpoma, construction site of 2-in-1, 300 capacity Lecture theatre in Ambrose Alli University, 600 bed capacity hostel and the 1,500 capacity Lecture theatre, also in Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area.

The team observed some structural defects and deviations from the original plan which situations were explained and promptly addressed.

The contractors used the occasion to draw attention to some of the challenges affecting their operations and solicited for quick release of funds to enable them meet up with project timelines.

At the end of the tour, the joint team concluded that good monitoring keeps the projects on track, not only with budgetary provisions, but also with engineering specifications.

Speaking at the end of the tour, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Implementation, Engr. Phoebe Bello said that the exercise would be on a quarterly basis, to ensure progress of work on affected sites.

She stated that all stakeholders involvement in the projects would ensure timely delivery.
