‘My Former Deputy Tried To Depose Me’ – Gov. Yusuf

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has accused his former deputy, Aminu Gwarzo Abdussalam, of attempting to depose him and occupy his office.
.....
Naija News reports that Yusuf made the allegation while receiving a group of praise singers, known as Mawallafan Abba Gida Gida, at the Government House in Kano.
Recall that Abdussalam recently stepped down from his role and defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) amid moves by the state House of Assembly to impeach him.
However, a few days after Abdussalam’s resignation, the lawmakers discontinued the impeachment process.
Speaking on the development while addressing the singers, Governor Yusuf said he had not received or seen Abdussalam’s resignation letter, stressing that his administration had done nothing to warrant his decision to resign.
According to the Governor, Abdussalam’s actions were driven by an attempt to remove him from office and take over as governor, but God did not permit it.
He said, “Today, the deputy governor who was elected alongside us is no longer part of this government. No one wronged him. In fact, I have not even come across his resignation letter, so why should I be concerned about it?

“Whatever pushed him to act in that manner was an effort to depose me and occupy the seat, but God did not permit it.”
Yusuf also expressed concern about how Abdussalam was treated within the Kwankwasiyya Movement, questioning why he was not granted the same political opportunity he is reportedly pursuing.
He added, “The deputy governor who left in hopes of getting that ticket what was his offence? Why wasn’t he given the chance? Isn’t that unfair to him?”
