My People First Foundation empowers 2,500 beneficiaries

…Supports Vulnerable Individuals in Kogi Central

The My People First Foundation has launched a series of empowerment and humanitarian initiatives across Kogi Central, benefiting over 2,500 individuals through skills acquisition, medical outreach, and welfare support programs.

The Foundation disclosed that more than 2,500 applicants have registered for its Skills Acquisition Programme, aimed at reducing unemployment and promoting self-reliance. Beneficiaries will receive training in income-generating skills such as tailoring, fashion design, hairdressing, catering, ICT, digital marketing, carpentry, welding, and agriculture.

Speaking on the initiative, the Founder, Hajiya Aishat Oyiza Omade, commended the turnout and reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to human capital development.

“The response we have received is overwhelming. It shows that our people are ready to learn and become self-reliant. This programme equips them with the tools needed to build sustainable livelihoods,” she said.

The Foundation also awarded scholarships to three outstanding teenagers to pursue tertiary education. “Education remains a powerful tool for transformation. Supporting these young ones is part of our broader vision to invest in the future,” Omade added.

In its humanitarian intervention, the Foundation provided support to an elderly woman in Obehira. She received ₦1,000,000 for home renovation, a monthly stipend of ₦100,000, and essential food and medical support. Omade said the assistance was aimed at restoring her dignity.

“No one deserves to live in such conditions. Our intervention ensures she lives comfortably and with dignity. We will continue to monitor her wellbeing,” she said.

The Foundation also awarded a full educational scholarship to a young girl who highlighted the elderly woman’s situation, supporting her ambition to study Law. Omade stated, “We are inspired by her courage. Supporting her education encourages compassion and responsible advocacy.”

Under its medical outreach program, the Foundation is covering the treatment of Mr. Adayi Salawu Yusuf Ojo, a construction worker with a severe ankle injury, with surgery scheduled next week. It is also supporting Police Corporal Nuhu Mustapha, who sustained gunshot injuries in 2024 and has been unable to walk.

Omade emphasized, “We are committed to supporting vulnerable individuals requiring urgent medical attention. Our goal is to provide timely care and give them a chance at recovery.”

The interventions received praise from Dr. Abdullahi Ozomata, Technical Adviser to the Kogi State Governor, who described the Foundation’s efforts as impactful.

“This is a commendable initiative. The Foundation has shown strong commitment to improving the lives of the people. Support like this is exactly what communities need,” he said.

The My People First Foundation affirmed that its programs are designed to deliver sustainable solutions to poverty and improve the welfare of vulnerable groups.
