NAPTIP rescues woman from spousal batt#ry in Abuja

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons  (NAPTIP), through its Rapid Response Squad (RRS), rescued a 36-year-old woman from a case of spousal battery at Asokoro Extension, Abuja.

A statement from NAPTIP says the suspect, identified as Mr. Godwin, a 48-year-old male from Kenshishe community on Benue state, was reported to have physically ass@ulted the victim, who is his wife of 22 years.

NAPTIP mentioned that the intervention followed credible information received by the Agency, prompting a swift response by the NAPTIP Rapid Response Squad, which successfully rescued the victim from the abusive environment and moved her to safety for necessary care and support.

 

NAPTIP says it has since commenced necessary procedures to investigate the matter and ensure that all appropriate legal steps are taken in line with its mandate to protect vulnerable persons and respond promptly to all forms of abuse, violence, and exploitation.

 

The Agency mentioned that it reiterates its unwavering commitment to the protection of women, children, and other vulnerable groups, while calling on members of the public to continue to report cases of domestic violence, abuse, and related offences for immediate intervention.
