National Police Day: Governor extols officers’ sacrifice, commitment

Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has joined Nigerians in celebrating the 2026 National Police Day, recognising the relentless sacrifice and dedication of officers of the Force.

“Today, we celebrate those who put on the uniform and risk their lives to keep us safe. Our police officers deserve our gratitude and respect,” said Radda

The governor’s message was contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed, on Tuesday in Katsina.

He emphasised the critical role police play in protecting lives and properties across the nation.

He acknowledged the exceptional contributions of police in ensuring the security of lives and properties in Katsina and other parts of the country.

Radda further noted that the police force has been instrumental in Katsina’s security efforts, therefore, he commended the commitment and bravery of officers working to combat rising violence and criminal activities across the state.

“Radda called on all residents to cooperate with security agencies and provide information that can help combat crime and insecurity.

“He urged communities to work closely with police to strengthen security at the grassroots level

“Governor Radda also pledged continued government support for the police force in Katsina State.

“He promised to ensure that officers have the resources and equipment they need to perform their duties effectively.

“Our administration is committed to providing whatever support the police need. Better equipment, better training, and better welfare for officers—these are our priorities,” the statement said.

“On National Police Day, Governor Radda extended his heartfelt gratitude to all police officers in Katsina State. He prayed for their safety and continued success in their operations,” the statement added.

Nigeria marks National Police Day every year on April 7.
