NYSC driving rural health gains in Rivers – Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has commended the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, for its contributions to strengthening healthcare delivery in rural communities across the state.

The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dagogo Wokoma, made the remarks during the NYSC orientation camp ceremony held at Nonwa-Gbam in Tai Local Government Area.

He noted that the NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers has played a key role in expanding access to basic medical services for people in underserved areas.

Fubara also observed that the rising number of corps members deployed to Rivers State reflects increased confidence in the state’s security situation and governance structure.

He assured the corps members of the government’s continuous support and encouraged them to make the most of their service year.

In his address, the NYSC State Coordinator, Moses Oleghe, urged the state government to accelerate work on a proposed 1,000-bed hostel to ease accommodation challenges at the camp.

A total of 3,665 corps members were officially sworn in and took the oath of allegiance during the ceremony.
