NYSC warns against night travel ahead of 2026 Batch ‘A’ stream II

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has cautioned prospective corps members against travelling at night as preparations begin for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation exercise.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Caroline Embu, the scheme’s director of information and public relations said the 21-day orientation programme would be held simultaneously across the 36 states and the federal capital territory.

According to her, the exercise will commence with the registration of prospective corps members from April 22 and conclude at midnight on April 24, 2026.

She added that the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for April 24, while the orientation course will end on May 12.

Embu urged all mobilised graduates to prioritise their safety while travelling to their respective orientation camps, stressing that night journeys should be avoided.

“The prospective corps members are advised to break their journeys once it’s 6:00pm, and pass the night at any available corps members’ lodge, military formation, police station/outpost or palace of a traditional ruler anywhere in the country, then continue the following morning,” she said.

The NYSC management also wished all participants safe journeys, reiterating the importance of adhering to the directive to ensure their safety during the mobilisation period.
