Ofor urges policy reforms, youth participation in economic planning

Founder of Orava Nigeria Limited, a company operating as a marine logistics firm, Dr Darlington Ofor, has expressed support for economic diversification, infrastructure development and youth participation in the country’s economy.

Ofor, in a statement, said this as Nigeria continues to examine issues such as infrastructure, employment and economic growth.

According to him, cooperation between government and private sector actors serves as a way to address national challenges.

The statement reads: “Ofor’s career brings together business activity and public engagement. Born in Enugu State, he grew up within a family setting that emphasised structure and shared values. His early years in Enugu metropolis and constant holidays in Obe, Nkanu West local government area, shaped his understanding of community and responsibility.

“He attended WTC Primary School in Enugu and completed his primary education in 1985. He then moved to Uwani Secondary School, where he obtained his Senior School Certificate in 1991. His academic journey continued at Enugu State University of Science and Technology, where he studied Public Administration and graduated in 1997.

“His interest in management led him to the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, where he earned a Master of Business Administration in 2004. In 2024, he completed a PhD in Logistics and Transport Management at the University of Port Harcourt. His doctoral work focused on logistics systems and transport coordination.

“Ofor’s early professional experience covered roles in corporate organisations, where he worked in areas such as finance, risk management, insurance and marketing. These roles provided exposure to business operations and planning processes. In 2008, he founded Orava Nigeria Limited, a company operating as a marine logistics firm in the oil and gas sector.

“As head of the company, he has worked within supply chains linked to oil and gas operations. The firm’s activities are connected to transport and logistics systems that support trade and industry. His work in this area reflects the role of logistics in economic activity.

“In addition to his business responsibilities, Ofor has taken part in professional bodies. He served as Deputy President of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria. In that role, he contributed to discussions on transport systems, regulation, and professional standards.

“His public engagement focuses on governance and development. He has expressed support for economic diversification, infrastructure development, and youth participation in the economy. He also promotes cooperation between government and private sector actors as a way to address national challenges.

“Through the Noble Goal Foundation, established in 2018, Ofor has extended his work into community programmes. The foundation organises healthcare services, digital training, and support initiatives for underserved groups. These activities are aimed at addressing gaps in access and opportunity.

“He is a member of professional associations in Nigeria and abroad, including fellowships in transport administration and management institutes. These affiliations connect his work to wider professional networks.

“Across his career, his focus remains on systems that support growth and development. His work in logistics, combined with his engagement in policy discussions, reflects an approach that links practice with governance.
