…Agbebaku pledges continued support for SHINE agenda

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has commended members of the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), for maintaining a harmonious working relationship with the executive arm of government, describing the synergy as key to the progress recorded by his administration.

The governor gave the commendation when the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, principal officers and other lawmakers paid him an Easter visit at his residence in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.

Speaking during the visit, Agbebaku reaffirmed the Assembly’s continued support for the policies and programmes of the Okpebholo administration, aimed at fulfilling its campaign promises to the people of Edo State.

The Speaker, who spoke on behalf of the 24 members of the House, also commended the governor for what he described as notable achievements in governance since assuming office on November 12, 2024.

“Today, we are in your country home to celebrate Easter with you and also to let you know that you are doing great work for Edo people. We promise to support you as a House and assure you that every budget you submit will be given due consideration and appropriately approved to enable you continue implementing the SHINE agenda for the benefit of Edo people,” Agbebaku said.

He added that the House would continue to collaborate with the executive and support the governor’s development agenda for the overall progress of the state.

Agbebaku said it would remain indelible in the history of Edo State that the first flyover in the state is being constructed under Okpebholo’s administration, noting that the governor had made significant impact within a short time in office.

Responding, Governor Okpebholo thanked the lawmakers for sustaining cordial relations with the executive, saying the peaceful atmosphere created by the Assembly had enabled his administration to pursue its development objectives.

According to him, the mutual understanding between the executive and legislative arms has strengthened governance and contributed significantly to progress in infrastructure and other sectors over the past year.

“I am very happy that since I assumed office in November 2024, you have created a peaceful atmosphere for my administration to achieve its goals and implement policies that have moved the state forward,” the governor said.

He noted that the harmonious relationship between both arms of government had fostered unity and produced tangible results for the people of Edo State.

“The harmonious working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government is largely responsible for the appreciable success recorded by my administration in the past year.

“We are working together in unity, and since we came together as one, there have been visible and positive results to show for our cooperation and collaboration,” Okpebholo added.

The governor appealed for sustained cooperation in the coming year, stressing that more could be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and unity.
