Opposition scared of defeat in Osun, says APC chieftain

A former lawmaker representing Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has declared that the All Progressives Congress will win the forthcoming governorship election in the state, notwithstanding what he described as a campaign of calumny from the opposition.

Oyintiloye disclosed this in a statement obtained in Osogbo, the state capital, on Sunday.

The ex-lawmaker said there was a campaign of calumny targeted at the APC and its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, by the opposition party.

He said series of accusations levelled against the APC and its candidate by the opposition stemmed from fear of defeat.

Describing the accusations as “unfortunate,” Oyintiloye also accused the opposition party in the state of deliberately spreading falsehoods aimed at misleading the electorate ahead of the polls.

He stated that no amount of “lies, false allegations, or fabricated stories” would sway the resolve of the people, who, according to him, are determined to vote for the APC and its candidate.

“The opposition is jittery because of the electoral defeat that awaits them on August 15, and that is why they are spreading misinformation on a daily basis.

“But the good news is that the people of Osun are now wiser and will not repeat the mistake they made in 2022. They are eager to return the APC to power in Osun,” he said.

He said the APC had put its house in order and that no amount of underhand tactics would derail its chances of victory.

“The party’s winning prospects have been further strengthened by its candidate, Oyebamiji, who is a man of integrity, honesty, and diligence,” he added.

He also expressed confidence that, given the calibre of members of the APC campaign committee led by Mr Wole Oke, the opposition party would suffer a resounding defeat.

Voters in Osun State will go to the polls on August 15 to elect a governor in an election where the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, will be seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party.
