Osun 2026: Omisore, others backing Oyebamiji  – Running mate 

The running mate of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming Osun State governorship poll, Mr Kayode Adereti, has said major stakeholders in the party, especially in the three local government areas in Ifeland, would work for the victory of the party in the August 15 poll.

Adereti disclosed this while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of an interactive session organised by the youth wing of the party, held at the Osun APC state secretariat in Osogbo on Wednesday.

The APC running mate, who represented the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, at the event, which had in attendance a large number of youth from local government areas across the state, stated that the party has a strategy that will make it victorious at the election.

He implored Osun APC youths to take charge and lead the push for the party’s victory at the polls.

Calling for unity and determination among the youth, he assured them of Oyebamiji’s commitment to “delivering people-oriented governance by restoring transparency, accountability, and sustainable development in the state.”

He added, “Our youths should maintain peace, across the state and to come out in mass and exercise their rights dutifully to vote for us as the best candidate, for the Osun guber seat. Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji is ready to lead Osun back to its rightful place among the comity of states.

“In Ifeland, APC stand strong, the unity of purpose to defeat the incumbent Governor is in place, all the leaders of APC are in unison to ensure that we have the victory and a resounding one for that matter in the federal constituency.

“All our leaders from Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Omoworare, former deputy governor, Sooko Adeleke Adewoyin and all other leaders in Ife South, East and Central are all in one accord to chase away PDP/Accord away from government.”

Earlier, the Convener of the programme, Olayioye Alabi, noted the relevance of the youth to APC’s resolve to return to government in the state.

He further said, “Youths are the power house of the party, hence there is a need to get them on board for the coming poll in Osun. We will mobilise more youths for the party to ensure victory.”

The PidomNigeria reports that electorates in Osun will on August 15 vote to elect a governor in an election that has the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party.

The ex-Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Oyebamiji, the flagbearer of the APC, and Dr Najeem Salaam, running on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, are the other major contenders in the election.
