Osun 2027: Oyebamiji woos workers with welfare, inclusive governance

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has assured workers of improved welfare and dignity, pledging a people-oriented administration that prioritises their well-being and economic advancement.

Oyebamiji, in a statement by the Project AMBO-ICG Media Office to mark the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, hailed civil servants, traders, farmers, artisans and young professionals for their contributions to the growth and development of the state.

He commended their resilience and commitment despite prevailing economic challenges, describing them as the backbone of the state’s economy.

“The Nigerian worker is the backbone of this country, and the Osun worker deserves to be treated as exactly that—a backbone, not an afterthought,” he said.

The APC candidate assured that his administration would prioritise workers’ welfare through prompt payment of salaries and pensions, improved working conditions and policies that promote economic stability.

“My government will be one that listens, responds and puts the welfare of its people first. The days of treating workers as mere statistics will be over,” he stated.

He stressed that pension obligations must be treated as a priority, noting that retirees deserve to live in dignity after years of service.

“The person who gave their productive years to this state must not be left behind when those years are done. Pensions are not a favour; they are a duty we must honour without delay,” he added.

Oyebamiji also assured contributory pensioners of plans to clear outstanding arrears and ensure a more transparent and efficient pension system.

“To our pensioners, especially those under the contributory scheme who have endured delays, I assure you that your entitlements will be paid promptly and in full,” he said.

Addressing the broader economic challenges, including rising cost of living and youth unemployment, the governorship hopeful said urgent steps would be taken to revive the state’s economy and create jobs.

“When a man works and still cannot feed his family, something has broken. When a young person is willing and able but has nowhere to go, something has broken. I am running to fix what has broken,” he said.

He pledged to implement policies that would support small businesses, stimulate job creation and expand opportunities across key sectors.

“We will build an economy where hard work is rewarded, small businesses can grow and our young people can find meaningful employment without leaving Osun State,” Oyebamiji added.

He further assured that his administration would prioritise accessible healthcare, quality education and social protection programmes, stressing that governance must reflect the needs of the people.
