Police arrest four suspected cultists in Ogun for alleged armed robbery

The Police Command in Ogun has arrested four suspected cultists for alleged armed robbery in the state.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abeokuta.
Babaseyi said that the suspects were arrested by the operatives of the Ilaro Division, following a report lodged at the station on April 16, at about 11:30 p.m., by a complainant.
He explained that the complainant said that on the same day at about 1pm, the suspects and two others now at large stormed his residence, assaulted him, threatened him with an axe, and robbed him of his mobile phone, an iPhone 14 Pro Max.
He said that on receipt of the complaint, operatives went into swift action, and the suspects were apprehended.
”During the operation, one locally made pistol, an axe, suspected charms, and the stolen iPhone 14 Pro Max were recovered from them.
“While the suspects are currently in police custody, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang,” he said.
Babaseyi also said that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
He said that the State Commissioner of Police (CP), Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism.
Ojajuni reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for cultism and other violent crimes, assuring residents that all criminal elements would be decisively dealt with. (NAN)
