Police arrest man with human head, palms in Ogun

Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man, Idowu Ashafa, in connection with the alleged possession of a fresh human head and two human palms concealed in a nylon bag in Igbesa, Ogun State.

The arrest was carried out by operatives attached to the Igbesa Division under the supervision of Area Commander ACP Folashade Tanaruno.

This was during a routine patrol in the early hours of April 17, 2026.

The spokesperson for the command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.

Babaseyi said the suspect was intercepted during a routine patrol led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Solotan K. Owolabi.

He explained that preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect allegedly exhumed the remains from a grave at Ido Itekun Village, Igbesa, for ritual purposes.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly exhumed the remains from a grave at Ido Itekun Village, Igbesa, for ritual purposes,” the statement said, adding that the implement used in the act was recovered.

It added that the scene was visited and documented, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
