Police detain driver over fatal crash that k!lled LASU student (video)

The Lagos State Police Command has detained a driver over the d3ath of a 300-level student of Lagos State University (LASU) in a fatal motor accident in Igando.

It was gathered that the female student, identified as Azeezat Adenike AbdulRasheed, was crushed to d3ath by a vehicle at about 7:00 pm. on Saturday in Igando.

In a video shared on X, some students were seen storming the Area M Police Division, demanding justice for the deceased. 

They alleged that police officers were shielding the driver involved and attempting to cover up the incident. 

Reacting to the incident in a post shared on its official X handle on Saturday night, April 11, 2026, the command urged for calm, adding that it had commenced an investigation into the incident.

“The Command is aware of the incident, which is a fatal motor accident. Following the report, the DPO Igando promptly visited the scene. The corpse has been deposited at the mortuary, while the driver involved is in Police custody,” the command stated.

“The vehicle has also been impounded for further investigation. The case has since been transferred to the Area Command.

 

“The Command assures the public that all necessary legal actions will be taken in accordance with the law. Members of the public are advised to remain calm.”
