Propaganda can’t erase my footprints, Ekiti Rep tells critics

A memeber representing Ado-Ekiti/Irepodun-Ifelodun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Olusola Fatoba, has condemned the alleged sponsorship of misinformation and commentaries by some individuals aimed at distracting public attention from his rising profile and widely acknowledged developmental achievements across his constituency.
Fatoba is seeking his party’s ticket to return to the National Assembly in the January 2027 election.
The Head of Media, Fatoba’s Media Office, Oladele Olanipekun, in a statement made available in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, stated that “no amount of political agitation or sponsored commentary can erase the clear and verifiable footprint of Hon. Fatoba’s representation”.
Olanipekun, who described the commentaries as desperate propaganda efforts by political detractors to unsettle Fatoba’s growing acceptance, visibility, and grassroots support across the constituency, said, “It is expected that individuals and groups who lack comparable records of performance would resort to misinformation and emotional rhetoric in an attempt to distort public perception”.
He said, “Fatoba remains firmly focused on consolidating his development strides and strengthening representation for Ado-Ekiti/Irepodun-Ifelodun Federal Constituency despite the politically motivated distractions”.
Recall that since Fatoba indicated interest in returning to the House of Representatives in the 2027 election, there has been mounting opposition in some quarters, with accusations including that the lawmaker did not move or sponsor any bill in eight years and neglected his constituents.
But Olanipekun, who dismissed the accusations, said, “Fatoba’s legislative engagements in the House include sponsorship and strong advocacy for key development-oriented bills such as the establishment of the Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery, Ado Ekiti; the National Rice Production, Processing and Research Institute in Igbemo Ekiti; and the Root Crops Production and Research Institute in Igede Ekiti.
“He has also remained active in national legislative duties, contributing to motions and debates on critical issues including flooding, energy challenges, banking sector reforms, telecommunications privacy, port-related extortion, and correctional service reforms.
“On constituency development, Fatoba’s record remains visible and widely distributed across communities, with projects including classroom construction and renovation, ICT centres, laboratory equipment, solar-powered streetlights, boreholes, road grading, drainage works, and community infrastructure upgrades.
“These are not promises; they are physical projects that residents see and use daily across wards,” the statement stressed.
Olanipekun stated that in the health sector, the lawmaker sponsored the equipping and solar-powered installation of the Erelu Bisi Fayemi Health Centre, provided support to Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, and sustained free medical outreach programmes across the constituency.
He said, “On empowerment, over 1,500 youths, women, traders, and farmers have benefited from structured programmes involving vocational training, ICT skills acquisition, agricultural support initiatives, and distribution of productive tools such as sewing machines, generators, grinding machines, and other business-starting equipment.
“Fatoba remains one of the most accessible and grassroots-connected representatives in the constituency, maintaining regular engagement with communities and stakeholders across wards”.
The media office urged the public “to disregard the desperate political noise. Leadership is measured by results, consistency, and impact, not propaganda or emotional storytelling”.
