Russian state TV is warning that nuclear strikes could be used to “wipe Ukrainian cities off the face of the earth” and kill Volodymyr Zelensky “in his bunker”.

The chilling threat comes amid reversals in the war for Vladimir Putin and an admission that he has failed to subjugate Ukraine with conventional missiles, drones, and his invading forces.

In the footage, Putin’s propaganda mouthpieces even boastfully call themselves the “Nuclear Maniacs Club”.

Kremlin TV war pundit Col. Mikhail Khodarenok admitted to millions of viewers that Putin’s strategy over four years of war is not bringing success.

He advocated a threat similar to the one Donald Trump issued to Iran – except the Russian version for obliterating Ukraine involves being ready to unleash nuclear bombs.

“The Ukrainian leadership will be faced with the question of whether the country will be left in complete ruins, or we move to some kind of peace agreement,” he said.

“The task isn’t solvable with conventional weapons, the ones we have, so perhaps we should switch to special [nuclear] weapons and end this conflict within ten days, by 1 May?”

Putin’s TV propagandist-in-chief Vladimir Solovyov told him: “Welcome to our Nuclear Maniacs Club. I’ve been calling for this for a long time.”

Khodarenok – a retired air defence forces commander – no longer advocated “caution”, he said.

“If the [Ukrainian] leadership, the military-political leadership, certain high-ranking officials, political leaders, are hiding in underground bunkers, located at considerable depths…

“How can they be reached there, except with special weapons…?

“For me that the time has come when the use of special weapons should not be considered an out-of-the-ordinary occurrence.

“Because the conflict must be ended, ended as quickly as possible.

“This will save tens of thousands of lives.

“This will protect our country’s infrastructure from attacks.”

He and Solovyov said “We don’t care” about the international reaction.

Ukrainians should be given an ultimatum – Trump-style – to agree to a Moscow-dictated peace deal, involving surrender to Putin’s wishes, or face nuclear strikes in two days.

Solovyov warned: “Citizens living in Kyiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv, leave your cities immediately.

“They will be wiped off the face of the earth.”
