Singer Brandy confirms she dated Boyz II Men star Wanya Morris when she was 16

Singer Brandy Norwood has confirmed longstanding rumours that she was in a relationship with Wanya Morris when she was 16 and he was 22.
.....
The revelation is contained in her new memoir Phases, where she said the relationship began around 1995, about a year after they met. Brandy described Morris as both a romantic partner and a mentor during the early stage of her career. She wrote that she admired him at the time, but later felt that admiration was taken advantage of.
According to her account, Morris referred to himself as her boyfriend in private, although he did not publicly acknowledge the relationship. “I was under the impression that we were madly in love, or at least what I believed love to be at sixteen,” she said.
Reflecting on their intimate relationship, Brandy said, “He was getting what he wanted from someone too young to recognize she was being used.” She added that she initially intended to wait until marriage before becoming s3xually active but changed her mind because she “believed that having se3x with him would cement our bond.”
Brandy said she later felt she had convinced herself it was her decision, even though she now questions whether she truly had a choice. The singer also said they had planned to make the relationship public once she turned 18, but the relationship ended after she discovered his alleged infidelity.
Morris has previously denied claims that they dated before she turned 18. Speaking in 2021, he said: “There’s no lie going on here. You can ask Brandy and she will tell you the same story.” The differing accounts highlight a continuing dispute over the timeline and nature of the relationship.
