Taraba assesses 180 communities for rural intervention

By Femi Bolaji
Jalingo — The Taraba State Government, through its Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), has commenced the second phase of the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES).
The phase began with a compulsory Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) exercise across 180 communities in the state.
The targeted communities are those that indicated interest in hosting CSDA projects within their domains across all 16 local government areas.
During interactive sessions, residents of the underserved communities identified and selected micro-projects tailored to their specific local needs.
Following the appraisals, the agency is expected to begin implementation of the interventions.
The first phase of the NG-CARES project, which ended in December 2025, recorded the execution of over 350 projects across 159 rural communities in Taraba State.
In a statement, the CSDA said the primary areas of intervention in the second phase include education, water, health, and the environment, with solar-powered electricity introduced as a new focus area.
The agency noted that the success of the initial phase underscores the state government’s commitment to rural development through timely funding and strong collaboration with the World Bank.
