A 14-year-old boy has been shot dead in broad daylight in south-east London, with three teenagers arrested on suspicion of murder.
.....
Police were called to reports of a shooting on Lord Warwick Street in Woolwich at around 3.40pm on Thursday. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers. Two boys aged 14 and 16, along with an 18-year-old man, have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody as investigations continue.
Witnesses reported seeing a group of youths running through the area shortly before the shooting. One person claimed they saw individuals carrying weapons and wearing face coverings near nearby shops on Kingsman Parade.
Local residents described the incident as deeply disturbing. One said they heard gunshots, while another spoke of the growing concerns about serious youth crime in the area.
Police have set up a cordon around the scene, which is close to Woolwich Ferry and Woolwich Dockyard station, and officers remain in the area. Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, who is leading the investigation, said officers are working quickly to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

“Our thoughts remain with the boy’s family and loved ones,” she said. “We are aware of the concern that this incident will cause the local community. We have already made three arrests and our investigation continues at pace.” She also urged anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to come forward.
The killing comes less than a week after another fatal shooting in London, adding to concerns about rising violence and youth-related crime in the capital. Mayor of London Sadiq Khan described recent incidents as “unacceptable”, while other political figures have pointed to wider concerns about public safety and disorder.
