Tinubu’s Aide Breaks Silence On Writing Press Statement For INEC

The Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, has denied a report claiming that he wrote a press statement recently released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the controversy linked to a 𝕏 account associated with its Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan.

.....

Olusegun, in a denial issued on Sunday, described the reports that he wrote the statement as reckless.

He added that suggesting that a presidential aide wrote or influenced INEC’s statement is both baseless and unfair.

While emphasizing that he did not draft any press statement for INEC, the presidential media aide added that he has no authority over INEC’s internal processes and is only responsible for communicating, clarifying and propagating the policies of the Tinubu administration.

He wrote, “I cannot say I’m entirely surprised by the reckless reportage that is now becoming a norm for @GazetteNGR.

“It is important to separate coincidence in messaging from conspiracy. Public institutions routinely respond to issues that have already generated widespread public attention. Suggesting that a presidential aide wrote or influenced INEC’s statement is not only baseless, but also unfair.

“My role remains what it has always been: to communicate, clarify, and propagate the good works of the President Tinubu’s administration alongside the Federal Government responsibly . I have no authority over INEC’s internal processes, and I did not draft any release on its behalf.”

Earlier, Naija News had also reported that INEC dismissed claims that it copied a press statement from Dada Olusegun, an aide to President Bola Tinubu, describing the reports as false and misleading.

The trending issue began after the commission shared a statement meant to clear allegations that its chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, supported a political post on 𝕏 or operated a personal account on the platform.

The statement, released on April 10, 2026, by the chairman’s media office, stated that the claims against him were not true and warned that fake accounts were being used in his name.
