Trump makes bombshell nuclear statement in Iran-US ceasefire deal update

Donald Trump has provided a new update following his bombshell announcement last night on the two-week ceasefire with Iran. The US President had threatened the Iranian civilisation with annihilation on Tuesday afternoon. But not long before his 1am BST deadline, he said he had postponed any order to attack the country as the regime had agreed on reopening the Strait of Hormuz. 

Today, he provided more details about the ceasefire. He wrote on Truth Social: “The United States will work closely with Iran, which we have determined has gone through what will be a very productive Regime Change! There will be no enrichment of Uranium, and the United States will, working with Iran, dig up and remove all of the deeply buried (B-2 Bombers) Nuclear ‘Dust’.

“It is now, and has been, under very exacting Satellite Surveillance (Space Force!). Nothing has been touched from the date of attack. We are, and will be, talking Tariff and Sanctions relief with Iran.

“Many of the 15 points have already been been agreed to. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP”.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, however, has released a statement following the announced ceasefire between the US and Iran saying the Islamic Republic’s military will observe the ceasefire, but strongly declared that “this is not the end of the war”. The ceasefire came just 90 minutes before the US President’s 8pm deadline, declaring it a “big day for world peace.”

Iran has listed its own conditions as part of a 10-point ceasefire plan. This includes lifting all sanctions, the release of Iranian funds frozen by the US, continued Iranian control over the strait of Hormuz and US military withdrawal from the Middle East.

US Vice-President JD Vance has described the ceasefire as a “fragile truce”. Speaking from Budapest, he said that an agreement is possible if “Iranians are willing in good faith to work with us”.

However, he said if Iranians “prevent even the fragile truce that we have set up from taking place, then they are not going to be happy”.

In the UK, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said: “I welcome the ceasefire agreement reached overnight, which will bring a moment of relief to the region and the world. Together with our partners we must do all we can to support and sustain this ceasefire, turn it into a lasting agreement and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.”

During his visit, the Prime Minister is set to hold talks on reopening the Strait of Hormuz permanently. Meanwhile, the UK’s average price of diesel has reached 190.6p per litre, up 48p since the start of the conflict in the Middle East, the RAC said.
