UCL: Atletico defeat 10-man Barcelona in quarter-final first leg

Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth both scored on Wednesday to give Atletico Madrid a 2-0 lead to defend against Barcelona in the return fixture of their Champions League quarter-final tie.
The turning point in the first leg came just before half-time as Pau Cubarsi was sent off for the hosts for a last-man foul and Alvarez sensationally bent in the resulting free-kick.
Despite Barcelona’s dominance, Sorloth doubled Atletico’s lead on the night as they take a two-goal advantage back to the Metropolitano stadium for next Tuesday’s second leg.
