The president had arrived at the Gateway International Cargo Airport, where Obasanjo joined other prominent leaders from the state to receive him ahead of the inauguration ceremony at the facility.

In a video captured by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Tinubu was seen bowing slightly while greeting Obasanjo and exchanging pleasantries with the former president.

The brief moment quickly attracted attention online, with several Nigerians praising the president’s conduct despite the well-known political differences between both leaders.

Among those who reacted was Abiodun Ogunmola, who wrote on Facebook, “President Tinubu is very respectful, he showed high level regard for Baba-Obasanjo.”

Another commenter, Wole Bolarinwa, also commended the president’s demeanour.

Similarly, Idris Olawale Olasunkanmi described the gesture as a reflection of Tinubu’s personality.

For Ogbonna Onyekachi Kelvin, the moment stood out for its simplicity.

Some commenters linked the gesture to Yoruba cultural values, which emphasise respect for elders.

Alimi Samson Iyanu wrote, “Tinubu even bend (sic) to greet him, Yoruba culture is the best.”

Also reacting, Ayodele Salaw referenced the political history between both leaders.

Despite their long time differences, he still bow(ed) to greet OBJ,” he said.

Another user, Ademilua Abdullah, described the moment as a reflection of the “Omoluabi” principle of respect and good character in Yoruba tradition.

He added that such behaviour shows the importance of upbringing and cultural values, even among political rivals.

During the visit, Tinubu presided over the commissioning of the Gateway International Cargo Airport.

The president also inaugurated two new commercial aircraft for Gateway Air, the Ogun State-owned airline operated in partnership with ValueJet.

In addition, he unveiled the new Federal Operations Unit edifice of the Nigeria Customs Service and handed over operational vehicles to the agency at the facility.
