NAF airstrikes kill scores of terrorists in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says the Air component of operation Hadin Kai have eliminated scores of terrorists and destroyed key infrastructure in Sambisa Forest and the Tumbuns axis of Borno.

This is contained in a statement by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the director, public relations and information, on Friday in Abuja.

Ejodame said the operations targeted terrorists’ enclaves, logistics hubs and fortified hideouts based on credible intelligence.

He disclosed that a major air interdiction mission was conducted on April 30 at Alafa in the Sambisa Forest, where identified supply nodes and infrastructure were struck and destroyed.

The offensive continued on May 1 with another precision strike on terrorist positions at Metele in the Tumbuns area.

“Intelligence and surveillance revealed a fortified island stronghold with entrenched fighters, storage facilities and defensive trench systems.

“NAF aircraft delivered precise strikes on the location, neutralising scores of insurgents and decimating the structure,” Ejodame said.

According to him, the sustained air operations form part of a deliberate strategy to maintain relentless pressure on insurgent groups and prevent them from regrouping.

Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, the chief of the air staff commended personnel involved in the missions, praising their professionalism and effectiveness in combat operations.

He reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to sustaining high-tempo strikes until all terrorist threats across the region are fully neutralised.
