The sister of former Minister of Power and APC 2027 governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Bayo Adelabu, along with her twin children, has been abducted in Ibadan.

An eyewitness told an online news platform that the abduction took place on Wednesday in the Challenge area of Ibadan South West Local Government Area.

One of Adelabu’s media aides, Femi Awogboro, confirmed the incident, explaining that the victims identified as Laide, the wife of Adelabu’s younger brother, and her twin sons Peter and Paul were seized by unknown gunmen at Elewura, Challenge, while on their way out of the area to link up with the expressway.

This latest kidnapping comes against the backdrop of a troubling pattern of abductions in Oyo State.

Reports circulating online indicate that on May 15, 2026, more than 40 teachers and students were kidnapped in a coordinated attack at Ahoro-Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area.

Before that, in December 2025, a chieftain of the APC in the state, Wale Oriade, was abducted by armed men from his office at PJ Square Shopping Complex along Akala Expressway in Ibadan.

Eyewitnesses had recounted that two men arrived in a blue Micra vehicle and forcibly took Oriade away, with the calculated nature of the attack described as deeply unsettling to those who witnessed it.

When contacted for a response via text message through the Crime Reporters Oyo platform on Wednesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said he was unable to independently confirm the latest incident at the time but asked that journalists wait for further clarification.
