The incident reportedly took place at Hostel C on campus around 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Although full details remain sketchy, sources indicated that the brothers had been locked in a prolonged disagreement, which reportedly escalated over a dispute involving bathroom slippers.
The elder brother was said to have called the victim to the hostel backyard in an apparent attempt to settle the matter.
It was gathered that the confrontation soon turned violent, with the suspect allegedly st@bbing his younger brother multiple times with a dagger before fleeing the scene.
Despite sustaining serious injuries, the victim reportedly managed to crawl to another part of the hostel, where he was found by fellow students who raised the alarm.
Pictures circulating online reportedly show the injured student lying in a pool of blood as other students attempted to assist him.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor described it as tragic, explaining that the university had begun efforts to track down the suspect and hand him over to law enforcement.
He noted that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between two full brothers, adding that the institution was actively searching for the young man responsible for the act with the intention of handing him over to the police, noting that he had yet to be located as at the time of the call.
He further described the campus atmosphere as calm, assuring parents and students that the university authorities were fully on top of the situation. It remained unclear at press time whether the victim’s parents had been formally notified of the incident.
