Iconic brand with 16 stores to close doors forever after nearly 30 years – 'end of an era'

An iconic fashion retailer has closed its doors forever after nearly 30 years, marking the ‘end of an era’.
The store was best known for stocking brands such as Paul Frank and G-STAR in the 2000s.
The online shop stopped selling items on June 14, with the remainder of physical stores set to shut forever in the coming days.
Over recent weeks branches across Australia have been having warehouse sales, selling items from popular brands including Adidas, Carhartt and Havaianas at a heavily discounted price.
Glue said: “After many years of bringing you the styles you love, the best street and contemporary fashion, it’s time for us to say goodbye.
“We are so grateful for your loyalty and support over the years. Thank you to every single person who shopped with us, supported us and made Glue what it was.
“It’s meant everything.” The retailer opened in 1998.
In Melbourne, the Emporium will remain open until June 21.
“After an incredible run, we’re closing our doors for good… We’re going out with a bang,” it added. Shoppers have been left shocked by the closure.
One labelled it the “end of an era.”
‘This is a sad, sad day… Never forget the G-STAR and Henleys 2011-2015. Love you forever Glue,’ another added.
Another customer said: “Glue, you were incredible. I may have aged out a bit from you but I always found the best fits when I was younger. It’s sad that more people don’t care.”
Another said the news left them in tears.
The owner of Glue, Accent Group, confirmed the stores would close by the end of the financial year in February after recording a $8.4million (£4.4million) loss in six months.
