INEC debunks viral report on suspension of voter registration in Delta

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunked a viral report claiming that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Akwukwu Igbo, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, was suspended due to a faulty machine.
In a statement on Friday by the Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs Nseabasi Udom, INEC described the publication as false, misleading, and not originating from the commission.
INEC explained that the registration exercise is ongoing in line with its approved rotation schedule, adding that the CVR was deployed to Ibusa earlier on Thursday, where the exercise successfully took place.
It further explained that the registration centre in Akwukwu Igbo would resume operations from July 6 to 10, as part of the structured local government area schedule.
The commission urged residents of Akwukwu Igbo and surrounding communities to disregard the viral message and rely only on official INEC communication channels for accurate updates.
“Eligible voters were advised to proceed with their registration and update exercises as scheduled, without fear of cancellation or disruption,” it said.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent, credible, and accessible CVR process across the state, while assuring all eligible residents of equal opportunity to participate in the electoral process.
